MEET AUTHOR BOBBY NASH THIS WEEKEND AT CONCAROLINAS!
Meet The Ruby Files author.co-creator Bobby Nash this weekend at ConCarolinas (June 1 - 3) in Charlotte, NC. I will be set up at Table #2 in Author Alley and will also be doing panels. Stop by and say hello.
My panel schedule:
FRIDAY, JUNE 1
9:00 pm - Superheroes in the Modern Day
Superheroes have been popular for decades, but society changes and our heroes need to, as well. What do we want from our superheroes now, that might be different from decades ago? How can superhero writers create characters that reflect the diversity of the population?
SATURDAY, JUNE 2
11:00 am - Live Action Collaboration
Come watch our writing teams collaborate on a character and topic the audience throws at them.
2:00 pm - The Novella Strikes Back!
The novella fell out of fashion several years back, but is now making a comeback in this time of e-readers and digital publication. Let's explore the benefits and costs off novella writing, and why it is an option novelists should consider.
3:00 pm - Being Prolific or Is Rapid Release Bulls&%t?
How fast do you NEED to release books to make a living? Once upon a time it took years for books to be released, but these days, readers are demanding we write as fast as they can consume. Our panel talks about whether or not you need to release a book every fifteen minutes to make money.
4:30 pm - Author Reading with Bobby Nash
9:00 pm - Off With Her Head!
There’s no way around it – sometimes a character has to die. Should you use poison, a blade, fire? What’s the surest method? How long will it take for him to die? Let’s talk about the nitty-gritty of killing off characters.
We hope to see you there.

DO YOU REVIEW?
Read any good books lately? Did you leave a review? If not, you should and here's why: Reviews help books (and movies, comics, music, audio, video, etc) move up in the rankings. So, if you like a book, take a couple of seconds to leave a starred review and a simple written review like "I loved the novel!" or "This is a great book!" or something like that. Your favorite authors will get a little ranking boost and you'll have helped them keep creating new content. It's a win/win for everyone. It only takes a few seconds and the creators will love you for it!

Casting Rick Ruby 2018! (Sean plays director)
In honor of Rick Ruby being nominated for the Pulp Ark Awards, let's have some fun and cast the Rick Ruby movie. (and if you haven't voted yet, here's the link: https://tinyurl.com/ybxlyey7)
My (Sean's) choices using contemporary actors:
Rick Ruby
Damien Lewis
Evelyn Johnson
Gugu Mbatha-Raw
May Belle Williams
Christine Adams
"Broom Stick" Strickland
Clarke Peters
"Mac" McGinnis
Bruce Greenwood
Donna Dixon
Anna Lynne McCord
Edie Rose Adams
Typhaine Daviot
Carla St. Clair
Elizabeth Henstridge
Robert Perry
David Boreanez
Making this a movie in the 50s, 60, or even 70s would have been a lot easier to pick actors for me, but using contemporary actors was a lot harder. I tend to follow the older ones or still think of the 30-something ones as "Disney kids." *grins*
We'll give Bobby a few days to get back from his convention, and see what he has to say about it (and maybe even give his choices).

MEET THE 'GENRE MIXOLOGIST': AN INTERVIEW WITH BOBBY NASH
Meet “Genre Mixologist” and Ruby Files co-creator and author, Bobby Nash at Medium. Big thanks to author Nick Ahlhelm at Medium for the fun interview.
By the way, "Genre Mixologist" is totally going on the next batch of business cards.
Meet the “Genre Mixologist”: an interview with Bobby Nash
Bobby Nash is a creator whose name I know all the way back from the early days of my own writing career. He’s a fascinating genre-bender in his work, writing mysteries, crime novels, science fiction and of course, super powered fiction. This makes him the perfect subject for my second creator interview.
Read the full interview HERE.
